I wrote this song soon after my daughter, Rachel, was born. I was terrified as a new mother but could not help feeling amazed by her and what a miracle she was. I knew I could not protect her from everything or give her all that she needed; and, because my faith has been a great source of love, strength, and hope for me, I wanted my daughter to feel that love and to experience that strength, and hope.

But somehow I still felt afraid.
I'd never experienced such newness of life
In what with two people God can make.
But through you God showed a part of me,
A part that I never knew:
A love and a growth that could start to be.
And it's a miracle.
